Dr. Shannon Forrester, Ph.D. is an artist working internationally in the expanded field of painting, a practice-led researcher in contemporary art and has taught at institutions in the US as well as UK. Forrester’s research includes her transdisciplinary practice-led Ph.D. project titled The Reparative Turn in Painting – Monstrous Interventions in Art and Identity Studies. It presents a first look at reparative painting practice theory which reveals the potential of the reparative turn in painting, aesthetics, and narrative to subvert dynamics of identity-based marginalization.
