Born in Novi Pazar (Yugoslavia) in 1981, Mersid formerly lived in Sarajevo and now resides on the Montenegrin shore. He's a composer, media artist, and researcher who focuses on electroacoustic art music and acousmatic composition, and practices phonography and sound art, improvisation, and other areas of his interdisciplinary concentration. Having studied composition and performance across Europe, he's consistently performed and worked with multimedia composition, has been drawn to audiovisual art as a series of digitally mediated interventions on sound artwork cartographies, and has inquired into the intangible paths of liminal auditory.
 
Focusing on sound as my main research tool, Mersid navigates the fluid boundaries of his artistic practice in light of its key concerns: hyperobject (The Liminal Spectatorship of After-Nature, a project-in-progress); transtexting (Ecologies of Fear: En Corps Sonore, 2019); obsolescence (Insound Disclosures: Indexing the Possible But Impalpable, 2019); processes of deskilling (Aperture, 2017); concepts of ear-witnessing (Mnemonic Maps, 2017); prosthesis (Music Through Spectacles); environmental matters (Cooling the Music, 2016); states of migration (La Chorégraphie de Résistance, 2015) etc.
 
The social context, human sensory apparatuses, and their spatial presence, or spectatorship, highlight the temporal dematerialization of the sound object. A prostethic voice is also understood as an inner resonance instrument that is recalled by aural awareness, which monitors the dynamic interplay of sound morphologies and questions the premises constituting an artistic intervention.
 
In other words, Mersid is primarily interested in the concept of the composer-performer as it relates to the medium of sound, which testifies to pervasive sonorities and particular intrinsic mechanisms that are guiding behavioral patterns, situate general societal habits or paying close attention to those that are ingrained in the environment — offering the sound composition as an interface of the social derivations and the landscape variable reference points.
