I am a graduate of The University of Georgia with a Ph.D. in Art with a focus in art education. While at UGA I received an outstanding teaching award and achieved an additional certificate in interdisciplinary qualitative studies. Prior to working as an assistant professor I worked for six years as a high school art teacher in Wilmington, NC. My research interests revolve around arts based approaches to both research and learning, with a specific focus on arts informed qualitative research methodologies, artful learning in higher education curriculum and pedagogy and teacher/researcher identity development.
