Stefan Gottfried (*1993 in Horn, Austria) is one of Austria’s top-tier alto and soprano
jazzsaxophonists of his generation.
In 2011 he started his Bachelor studies in jazz-saxophone under the guidance of Andy
Middleton at Musik und Kunstuniversität in Vienna where he graduated from in 2015 cum
laude. In the fall of 2015 moved to the Netherlands to pursue his Master studies at The
Royal Conservatoire in The Hague studying with Toon Roos, John Ruocco and Rolf Delfos.
Stefan has been part of a large number of ensembles performing at internationally
renowned venues and festivals. He has shared the stage and recorded with among others
Bob Mintzer, Bill Holman, Luis Bonilla, Bert Joris and Darcy James Argue.
He leads his own international musical project Gottfried di Franco 5tet and has toured
Europe performing original compositons and arrangements.
He currently resides in The Hague, the Netherlands.
Stefan Gottfried plays a Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone and a Yanagisawa 901 soprano
