My research investigates the connections between intergenerational and personal trauma through a negotiation between the body and landscape in photography. The wet-plate process is used to present a viscous representation of an American Civil War battlefield, from the Battle of the Wilderness, but also refers to the fluids absorbed into the ground by the decomposed bodies. An Environmental Historical perspective is applied towards how the soldiers’’ experienced the War, but also how they changed the American landscape.
