I'm a final year AHRC funded PhD student, researching age and ageing in and through performance. I am investigating the possibilities of troubling perceptions of older people through the act of performing, as well as through the content and form of the performance. I also look at the way age plays out in mainstream, autobiographical and experimental theatre and performance. I use applied theatre and workshop techniques to create interactive, politically engaged performances.
My article 'Depth, Significance and Absence: Age-Effects in new British Theatre' was published in Age, Culture, Society in 2014.
My co-research group - Passages Theatre - has performed in community and academic settings promoting discussion about age & ageing and its representation, across generations and between members of different communities.
