Helena Ferreira is an artist, teacher and researcher, born and based in Lisbon. She is graduated in Sculpture from Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon University (FBAUL), has a master in Visual Arts Education and a Post-graduation in Art Education. Currently she is a PhD Student in Fine Arts at FBAUL and is developing theoretical and practical research on projected images in contemporary art.
She is a research Member of the Artistic Research Center (CIEBA) at Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon University (FBAUL) and coordinator of the Post-Screen: International Festival of Art, New Media and Cybercultures [http://postscreenfestival.com].
As a researcher the center of her work has been related to various fields ranging from education to producing and exhibiting contemporary art. In particular, the latter, from a pratical and theoretical point of view, is focused on technological, optical, representative and psychological issues related to the meaning of projection in the artistic context. She has participated in several conferences as a lecturer and already has a few articles published.
She has been exhibiting her artworks since 2007 and currently she is developing theoretical and practice-based research about installation, video, screen, projected images, sculpture, subjects on which has already presented several lectures and published articles.
