I am a composer, sound artist, music producer and writer (b. 1977 Finland).

My work examines the aesthetics of music and sound in relation to complexity, ecology, environment, globalization, urbanism, possible worlds, and the future society. I work collaboratively and globally across the arts, my musical interests revolving around the possibilities and combinations of music and sound art, new global musical styles, contemporary classical and generative music.

Since 2001 I have produced compositions and sound pieces for performance and theatre, contemporary dance, short films, new media, interdisciplinary art exhibitions; created public sound installations in Belgium, Finland, Germany, Japan, the UK and the USA; released ten solo and five collaborative albums; performed concerts in Europe, West Africa and Japan. My works have been shown in the Dak’Art and Marrakech Biennale, Frieze Art Fair, Soundseeing, Musica nova Helsinki, LACMA and the Seattle Art Museum, among others. My articles and essays have appeared in publications such as SAVVY: art.contemporary.african, Another Africa, Afrikadaa and Art-iculate Series.

My work has been supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation (SKR), the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike), the Finnish Music Foundation (MES), Music Creators’ Fund, the Association of Finnish Non-fiction Writers, the Cité internationale des arts, C-TAKT, Villa Karo, YLE (the Finnish Broadcasting Company), BBC Radio 3 and 6 Music, Aalto University and HBKsaar.

I currently live and work in Ghent, Belgium.
