Laura Toxvaerd is a Copenhagen-based saxophonist and composer and author of the art book “Compositions - 18 Graphic Scores” (Forlaget Spring). Her works have been performed around Europe and in North America including Chicago and New York City and her compositions are released worldwide on 12 audio albums with a.o. John Tchicai and Marilyn Mazur. Scores are published by Edition S and in the book anthology “Notations21” and have been on exhibition e.g. at Gund Gallery, Kenyon College, Hutchins’s Gallery, NYC, Seton Art Gallery, University of New Haven and Royal Danish Academy of Music’s library. After finishing her education at Rhythmic Music Conservatory, Copenhagen, which included studies at Conservatoire National Supérieur, Paris, and compositional studies with Barry Guy, she has earned a Master of Arts (philosophy of music education) from Aarhus University. In 2009 she was awarded the prestigious three-year working scholarship by the Danish Arts Foundation. Toxvaerd is a teacher at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory and at the Danish National Academy of Music.
