Laura Toxvaerd is a Copenhagen-based saxophonist and composer and author of the art book “Compositions - 18 Graphic Scores” (Forlaget Spring). Her works have been performed around Europe and in North America including Chicago and New York City and her compositions are released worldwide on 15 audio albums with a.o. John Tchicai and Marilyn Mazur. Scores are published by Edition S and in the book anthology “Notations21” (Mark Batty Publisher, NYC) and have been on exhibition e.g. at Gund Gallery, Kenyon College, Hutchins Gallery, Long Island, Seton Art Gallery, University of New Haven and Royal Danish Academy of Music’s library. After finishing her education at Rhythmic Music Conservatory, Copenhagen, which included studies at Conservatoire National Supérieur, Paris, and compositional studies with Barry Guy, she has earned a Master of Arts (philosophy of music education) from Aarhus University. In 2009 she was awarded the prestigious three-year working scholarship by the Danish Arts Foundation. For several years she has taught and examined at the Danish music conservatories and conducted artistic research as an adjunct lecturer at the RMC, Cph. Currently employed as a PhD Research Fellow at UiA, Norway.
