Stella Karageorgi is an artist and a researcher. Stella's research focuses on the study of the prehistoric art of Cyprus and through her art practice she examines critically her ancient heritage in order to identify the artistic ideas behind the ancient symbols, motifs and archetypes. The artist’s main aim is to explore new ways of interpreting the past, to recreate the ancient art and transform it into something new; a new art form that is relevant to an audience of the 21st century with completely different values and belief system. In this respect the past is re-interpreted, re-created and re-examined while it is brought back to the spot light through the form of contemporary art.
