Countertenor Daniel Elgersma (1988) started singing as a boy soprano at age 6 in the Martini Boyschoir Sneek (Bouwe Dijkstra) where he soon became a chorister. He obtained Bachelor degree in Early Music Singing at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague as a countertenor, where he now proceeds his Master degree with Lenie v/d Heuvel, Michael Chance, Peter Kooij and Jill Feldman. Daniel participated in masterclasses by Michael Chance, Peter Kooij, Barbara Schlick and Marinda van Kralingen. 

On his 17th he made his debut as a countertenor soloist in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. A few years later he sang Bach’s alto-solo cantata Geist und Seele wird verwirret conducted by Klaas Stok, and he gave several solo recitals, including one Purcell recital in collaboration with Lucy van Dael. Besides performing as a soloist i.a. Bach’s passions, motets, masses and cantatas, Händel’s Messiah and Jephtha, Vivaldi’sMagnificat and Gloria, Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit and Te Deum, and Gilles Requiem, Daniel also regularly sings ensemble repertoire, such as Machaut’s Messe de Notre Dame, Tallis’ Lamentatio de JeremiaeDas Schwanengesang by Schütz and Homo MelancholicusLagrime di San Pietro and Magnus Opus Musicum by Orlando di Lasso. 

Daniel regularly sings with Amsterdam Baroque Choir (Ton Koopman), Bach Collegium Japan (Masaaki Suzuki), Vox Luminis (Lionel Meunier), Egidius Quartet (Peter de Groot), Cappella Amsterdam (Daniel Reuss) and Combattimento Consort (Jan Willem de Vriend) touring in Japan, Oman and throughout Europe. 

Daniel appears on several CDs as a soloist and ensemble singer with i.a. Vox Luminis, Camerata Trajectina and the Egidius Quartet.
