Miriam Althammer (Dr. des.) is a Dance, Theatre and Performance scholar. She is currently a research associate with a focus on "Archives, Media, Arts" at the Center for Contemporary Dance at the University for Music and Dance Cologne, where she received her PhD with a thesis on contemporary dance in Southeastern Europe and connections between archives, oral history, artistic research, and artistic-institutional practices. 

In her research, she is particularly concerned with the re/reading of European dance and performance histories in the 20th and 21st centuries with a focus on Eastern Europe, such as the example of the East/West exchange at Tanzquartier Wien. She is interested in practice-based dance and movement research and its historical, artistic-research, inter- and transdisciplinary, and material-media dimensions. 

Currently she is preparing a project on "Modern (Counter)Drafts" along the artistic biographies of Floria Capsali, Louise Langgaard, Maga Magazinović, Ana Maletić and Vera Proca Ciortea.
