About this exposition

Soundscape composition is a possibility to reveal unheard landscapes. The genre is a way to focus on listening to spatial, temporal, rhythmic, dynaamic, timbral, spectral, spectromorphological differences, changes and transitions. László Sáry's "Studies on Steam Engines" is a unique and catching piece, based on field recordings. The composer's individual style mirrors the intention to liberate the parameters of sound from conventions and sheer rutins. The work inspires an openness to different listening concepts, hallmarked by the names of JohnCage, Pierre Schaeffer and Murray Schafer.
