Sofia Hallik (born in 1991) is an innovative jewellery maker and PhD researcher at Estonian Academy of Arts. Sofia’s work, which has been exhibited at international exhibitions, is best known for the perfect symmetry, tricky nature of the material, latest digital techniques and the use of a visually monochrome palette.

According to some researches machine is better than us – it works faster, it has exact “mentality” and its main goal is to eliminate mistakes. In this case machines represent power manifestation. Technologies like 3D/CNC almost accomplish the virtual perfection of the form, thus removing the author as far as possible from the role of the ‘creator’.

Aim of Sofia's work is represented in shameless and conscious adaptation of the conflicting concepts of handwork and machine work. Exactly at the junction of these two concepts, something truly attractive arises, that is actually a taste of our reality.
