My work has a particular interest in the constitution of 'communities' (in the broadest sense of the word) or groups and how they make publics. This includes informal, political, social, business, institutional and national formations, as well as schools of thought. I include exhibition-making, curating, event-making, art production, education, performance, writing and publishing within my practice.  In 2015 I was a Taiwan Fellow with the research project 'The Constitution of Independent Art Spaces in Taiwan' and previously undertook 2 residencies at the Taipei Contemporary Art Center. I worked as a Senior Tutor in Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art 2007-2015 and have been a Visiting Professor on theCurating and Critical Studies MA at the National Taiwan University of Education, Taipei since 2016.  In 2004 I established Publish and be Damned with Emily Pethick - a voluntarily run organisation for the promotion of artist-led and alternative forms of publishing and subsequently was a co-founder of Index art book fair, Mexico 2014-present. I was curator of the South London Gallery from 2004 - 2007 and as an independent curator I have made exhibitions in museums and art spaces in East Asia, the Americas and across Europe. Currently I am completing a Phd by Publication at Kingston University and am Curator at the Museo Jumex, Mexico City.
