About this exposition

This exposition Keepsaking speech is an output of resarch focused on ethnographical documentary filmmaking. This research took place in parallel with the filming of a documentary in Mongolia focused on rare phenomenon of Czech-speaking Mongolian community. It tests the capacity of shared language as a cultural glue and prerequisite/assumption for successful ethnographical documentary making. It also examines the possibility to increase authenticity and authoral control over their work (by reducing the staff to themselves) while still managing to create a documentary with all desired qualities. It includes methodology, conceptual considerations, dilemmas authors had to face, important decisions they had to make, filming and editing timelines as well as personal diaries written by both documentarists. Last, but not least, it presents conclusions authors made after reflecting the whole documentary-making process. (CZ) Tato expozice Řeč jako suvenýr je výstupem výzkumu zaměřeného na etnografickou dokumentární tvorbu. Tento výzkum probíhal souběžně s natáčením dokumentárního filmu v Mongolsku zaměřeného na vzácný fenomén česky mluvící mongolské komunity. Testuje schopnost sdíleného jazyka jako kulturního pojiva a předpokladu úspěšné etnografické dokumentární tvorby. Zkoumá také možnost zvýšit autenticitu a autorskou kontrolu nad svou prací (omezením štábu na sebe sama) a zároveň dokázat vytvořit dokument se všemi požadovanými kvalitami. Zahrnuje metodologii, koncepční úvahy, dilemata, s nimiž se tvůrci vypořádávali, důležitá rozhodnutí, která učinili, časovou osu natáčení a postprodukce i osobní deníkové zápisy obou tvůrců a v neposlední řadě prezentuje závěry, k nimž tvůrci reflexí celého tvůrčího procesu dospěli.
