Conclusion

In my artistic development, an important aspect became connecting. The connection of different parts or materials is something to develop further. Another thing that could potentially contribute to my knits is the use of discarded products or waste. This can add a new dimension to my work and can emphasize the 2D to 3D aspect it has. The connection and the addition of depreciated materials can go hand in hand for the development of my work. Another thing to look into is working on a larger scale and with that the placement of textiles in a space. Within this, composition and the empty space become an important aspect.

Ideas that came up after and during the process of the different tasks:

-Incorporate different materials in knitting to see if I can achieve an overflow in organic and graphical elements.
-The use of 3D elements such as the moss, trash, and findings to emphasize the transition of 2D to 3D in other materials.

-Connect different knitted textiles in a larger space. Before I made connections within the knit itself but an idea to develop further is connecting different parts in different knits so for example it could result in a web of knitted textiles

-Integrating objects in textiles by following the form of the object, leads back to the first two points: incorporating different materials with an emphasis on depreciated materials.

Concrete next steps/methods to implement the ideas:

-Enlarging my work hang it in different spaces. Decide what is important to form the composition: the empty space, the connectors, and the actual work. Can be done by sketching, or in actual space with samples.

-A method to add materials could be to look into the trash and pin it on knits and form it around the trash in different ways and document it. Look at colors and texture in combination with the knits.

-Knit a print and hook the added material on the knit. The color of the knitted print and added material match which makes it a logical transition in material.
