On this page I present lick 1, what I refer to as an ending-lick. For more information on lick 1, see section 6.1.1 in the thesis. I initially try to play descending licks starting on hole-six blow. This is how McCoy usually plays his lick 1 variations. I realize that this is a dead-end, whatever I try sounds just like a McCoy lick. Therefore, I decide to start in the higher octave, on hole-nine blow. Since this lick belongs to the rhythm-specific category, i initially want to keep the most common McCoy rhythm.
