Lick 6 are licks played over a II V I progression. They start on the major supertonic, i.e., the dominant of the dominant chord, leading to the dominant chord, leading to the tonic chord. For more information about lick 6, see section 6.1.1, Harmony specific licks in the thesis. Lick 6 is rare in McCoy's recorded output, and it only produced three new licks in this practice session.
Lick 6A An ascending bebop dominant scale on the II chord, followed by a descending line using the bends on hole six, five and four. Ending on the I chord outlining the major triad.
Lick 6B I am searching for a fluent line to follow the initial lick I play on the II chord in the first bar, I finally hear a solution where I start on the fifth of the II chord and work my way up to land on the root of the I chord with plenty of bends in the ascending line.
Lick 6C Ends the same way as 6B, but I start on the root of the II chord.
After this lick, I was unable to come up with further material, so I ended the session.
