Was it even theirs to pass on?

How do we give proper credit to a dance and its origins?

POEMS

Before there is an evaluation of pain, there is a suffering body - I metabolized this story over time. What is civilized, what is natural, I wish to find my king, it is unknown.

Secrets of life was going to be reformed, inscribed into the dancing bodies of today. Slipperiness reconciling the body with its environment. Mesh-work, transmitted cowardly, story traces your concerns. My angel, I can see how it feels to be an over launch.

Does anything ever belong to me?

How much do I need to know about a topic in order to wonder about it?

Is what I carry MINE?

COPYWRITING IN DANCE

Which dance belongs to you?

Which doesn't?

QUESTIONING THE IDEA OF OWNERSHIP IN DANCE

What Claire proposes is to...

... move away from the idea of single authorship and moving towards interconnected, queer frameworks that emphasize collaboration and mutual support in the creative process.

...look at dance history, where we see many who claimed ownership of dances that weren’t truly theirs—adressing issues of cultural appropriation and the impact of colonialism.
