INTRODUCTION
Title: “The Chakra Experience: how Chakra perception can inspire my piano interpretation”
In this day and age, where everything is fast and art can be enjoyed at the click of a button, very often quantity is a more prominent factor than quality. This consumerist trend is not conducive to art forms, such as cultured music, that need attention and quality time to be appreciated in all their incredible potential.
In light of this, allowing ourselves a moment of listening and awareness, rather than an escape from reality, inner and surrounding, would prove a valuable opportunity.
In this regard, there are good modalities and ideas, but the challenge is to create additional types of artistic events that can help bring cultured music and the arts back into the rhythm of modernity.
A goal could be to create a need in people, more specifically the need to savor the beauty and emotions of art to enhance one's existence. This is only possible by feeding the desire, the beneficial need for emotions generated by art.
Therefore, something is needed that can truly inspire and captivate modern audiences.
To achieve the aforementioned goal, a good standard recital may be sufficient, but, in modern society, this kind of event, unfortunately, is often not considered captivating enough to convince people to go to the theater rather than elsewhere.
It is therefore necessary to broaden and diversify the artistic proposal, especially those related to cultured music: to propose inter- and multidisciplinary concerts that can prove to be a viable alternative to a good standard recital, but without lapsing into entertainment for its own sake.
Therefore, I thought of a concert that involves the connection between the Chakras and other forms of expression, such as music (both written and improvised), voice-acting and colors. These forms of expression, effectively connected with the Chakras, can set in motion the awareness of these energy centers, resulting in a beneficial effect in the audience.
This will be the last stage of the research journey, which is focused on a necessary previous step:
research question: “How can spiritual awareness of the Chakras influence my way of playing?"
Clarification of terminology: the original word in Sanskrit is “Cakra” (चक्र) without “h” (as you will find in the title of the final concert poster). “Chakra” with the “h” is a westernization of the original, only for practical reasons I will use the version with “h”.
