Sergio Blanco: Autofiction as a Dramaturgical Practice

As part of the artistic production project Memento Mori, promoted by the School of New Technologies of Art, the Academy hosts a meeting with Sergio Blanco, one of the most important playwrights on the international scene. The conversation will focus on the practice of autofiction, a hallmark of his writing, which intertwines personal experience and theatrical invention, redefining the boundaries between life and fiction.

This event will be a valuable opportunity to explore the core themes of his research and to engage in dialogue with one of the most significant voices in contemporary dramaturgy.

18.30 - 20.00

MY DEAR AI, I AM LOST IN THE SUPERMARKET *_*

Following the “slow hackathon” that involved students from various academies and conservatories, a temporary installation/action will be presented, making use of generative AI, thinking bodies, and extended minds.

A hybrid environment where organic and artificial intelligences coexist, observe one another, misunderstand each other, and mirror one another. An experiment that stages the dialogue between functionality and relationship, automatisms and intuition. It invites us to question whether, within the promise of a tailor-made “GUARANTEED PERSONALITY,” there is still room for authentic and unpredictable subjectivities—like our own.

AMABAFI - The Multimedia Archive of the Fine Arts Academy of Florence

The Multimedia Archive of the Fine Arts Academy of Florence (AMABAFI) is at the center of research conducted by PhD candidates Giovanni Grimaudo, Giulia Vaccari, and Federico Niccolai within the XRlab of the Accademia di Firenze.

Established in 2022, AMABAFI addresses the need to digitize and preserve the rich artistic heritage safeguarded by the historic Florentine institution. The project aims to create a tool capable of enhancing cultural and artistic content while fostering the encounter between tradition and technological innovation.

14.30 - 17.30

PhDHub

PhDHub is a digital platform developed through the collaboration of several EAR partners, which gathers and compares artistic and musical doctoral programs offered by Higher Education institutions in Europe and Anglo-Saxon countries.

It provides an innovative tool for analyzing third-cycle programs, serving both as a map of orientation for students wishing to pursue a PhD and as an opportunity for critical reflection on the different systems and models of artistic research.

17.30 - 20.30

HOHENSTAUFEN - The Game

Hohenstaufen – The Game is a gaming app dedicated to the UNESCO site of Castel del Monte and the city of Andria, developed as a research project by PhD candidate Fiorella Custodero.

The app aims to promote knowledge of the territory among a “glocal” audience, with particular attention to younger generations, enhancing both tangible and intangible heritage.

The project was developed in collaboration with Gianfelice Boncristiano (software programming and development) and Licia Missori (sound design).

Room 5 A

14.30 – 20.30

Tessela

Tessela is a generative multimedia installation that originates from a shared seed: a collective dialogue with °'°Kobi. From this origin, four divergent trajectories unfold, producing fragments that are both autonomous and interdependent.

Sounds, images, and words come together and break apart according to non-linear logics. As in non-periodic tessellations, each element fits without repeating, evoking an expanding landscape, an unstable constellation. A collective gesture that drifts, returns, and gets lost—without seeking closure.

Room 6 B

15.30 – 17.00

ARTISTIC INTELLIGENCE FORUM

Envisioning the Artistic Intelligence Toolbox

Final plenary session of the Cost Action, during which the foundations will be laid for the Artistic Intelligence Toolbox, one of the final outcomes of the Action. To participate in the event, please register at v.digeronimo@abaroma.it

12.00 /12.30 – 18.00/18.30

Sympoiesis

A performance exploring the interaction between human and non-human agents in the context of improvised music, unfolding through a dynamic process of exchange between the environment, °'°Kobi AI, and a human improviser.

Through the use of artificial intelligence, the interaction among the different actors of the performance takes shape as a fluid, interdependent sound ecosystem, where sound becomes the medium through which non-linear relationships are articulated between human elements, the environment, and technology.

Room 7 B

14.30 – 22.30

°’°KOBI: Navigating the Universe of Knowledge

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience °'°Kobi, a digital platform that employs artificial intelligence to stimulate divergent thinking and creativity.

The new interfaces—for computers and for augmented reality through Hololens headsets—will provide the chance to interact with a qualified knowledge base, generating ever-changing pathways and associations

Room 8 B

10.00 – 13.00

Presentations by Doctoral Students from ABAROMA

The PhD candidates from the three doctoral programs active at the Fine Arts Academy of Rome—the PhD in Heritage Sciences (in collaboration with the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”); the PhD in Cultures, Practices, and Communication of the Visual Arts; and the PhD in Cultures, Practices, and Technologies of Cinema, Media, Music, Theatre, and Dance (in collaboration with the University of “Roma Tre”)—will present their research projects.

14.30  – 17.00

Enacting / Revealing Artistic Research – EAR WP2

Understanding a work of art means retracing its creative process. Thanks to non-invasive imaging techniques, it’s now possible to uncover details such as pigments, underdrawings, and the layering of colors. Scientists, restorers, and art historians will share insights from the EAR WP2 project, where imagination meets material experimentation.

17.30 – 18.30

°'°Kobi 5: Towards a Cognitive Machine for Knowledge Management

What scenarios does the use of Artificial Intelligence open up for knowledge management? How can we imagine new possibilities for the protection of rights in the age of LLMs? Is it possible to identify points of balance for complex systems such as cultural ones? What does it mean to operationalize knowledge in terms of the conceptualization of creative processes?

These are some of the questions that will be addressed in the presentation of °'°Kobi, a cognitive machine developed for artistic research and creativity.

OUTDOOR SPACES

12.30 – 20.30

Hörselgång
Hörselgång is an interdisciplinary project that blends sound art and participatory practice through augmented soundwalks. It explores how we perceive the world by letting two people listen through each other’s ears, creating a virtual auditory channel (hörselgång in Swedish). This shared listening space raises a simple but profound question: what do we hear of the world, ourselves, and others through another’s ears?

18.00 – 20.00

FLESH AR(T) ATTACK

“FLESH AR(T) ATTACK” is an augmented reality performance event conceived by the undergraduate students of Multimedia and Technological Arts, under the guidance of Professor Chiara Passa.

Set in Rome’s former slaughterhouse, FLESH AR(T) ATTACK engages the audience in a series of daily guided tours through 26 itinerant AR hotspots. The AR matrices are worn by the students, who move along a pathway and digitally reshape the space, transforming a place of death into a center of art.

The aim is to redesign the area through the active participation of the audience, creating a collective immersive experience. The project seeks to overwrite the slaughterhouse’s historical memory with a new digital artistic narrative.
