Sound-style in this project is a kind of Heta-Uma in which culture movement exists in Japan. And literary, I conceptualized with realism, but it is non-fiction.
A culture movement Heta-uma in Japan.
About what I though in their stories:
People who have exceeded standards as they could. Therefore, it means that they had overcome their own fortune, as well as misery in relates to together with others fortune. There is no winner in life.
These are about what I'd like to express in this auditory painting that I cannot create in other creative mediums.
The sound work "Non-calculable space, time, and body" is the second part of the artistic research "N.N-Zwischenliegend." These are interviews with Berlin citizens who have been living in Berlin for at least 40 years or who were born in Berlin. They have lived either in Berlin-Kreuzberg (then Berlin 36 or Berlin 61) or in East Berlin (in the former GDR), and today they live in Kreuzberg, Mitte, Friedrichshain, Neukölln, or in Treptow. Most of them are Germans; some have a migration background.
The sound composition „N.N-Zwischenliegend“-non-calculable space, Time and Body.
Vol. 1: Erika Matsunami
Length approximately 18 min. (18 min 11 sec.)
The three interviewees are: R. M., CEO of a company in Berlin (IT industry), born in 1970 in Berlin, today he lives in Berlin-Mitte with his wife. S. S., physiotherapist in Berlin, born in 1963 in Bavaria, she came to Berlin in 1983 to study. She lives today with her partner in Berlin-Kreuzberg. B. M., born in 1956 near Mannheim in West Germany (FRG), and grew up in East Germany (former GDR), kindergarten educator in Berlin. She moved (migrated) in 1975 from Gera in East Germany (former GDR) to West Berlin. She was a single mother; her son is 42 years old today. She lives alone in Berlin-Kreuzberg, she leads a happy second life with her boyfriend.
Important topics in this Sound Vol. 1 are retrospect and presentation as foresight in the context of urban spatiality of Berlin and its social processes. The narratives of the three interviewees refer to different moments in their memory of the city of Berlin as well as to the former GDR, spatial aspects of communities, cultures, economies, and the interactions with their environment. This Sound Vol. 1 deals with the interpretation of their relationships to space and place from an individual, subjective perspective as well as the influence or mutual relations between the spatial level of people and society. This creates an auditory perspective of their words, emotions, and thoughts, and together with the surrounding sound of the city of Berlin, creating today a kind of representation of humans and the auditory level of the environment.

Vol. 1:
Konzept, Aufnahme, Komposition: Erika Matsunami
Dauer 18 min 11 Sek
This sound project is changed a bit now. I've recorded interviews, I have been listening them and researching for a text for I write from today's perspective. -> Page
Thereby original recording will be inserted into this sound composition. In Vol.1, the sound of birds is, which sound I listen in my dream at my flat in Berlin, each summer early morning. I've recorded this sound from the window at my flat early morning in a summer.
Is musical algorithmic a sophisticated? But I like this 'loose'..., I need 'loose' in today's digital society. Formalism is too tightly. 'Natürlich' ist nicht stil, sondern Random, Loose, ...In this sound piece „N.N-Zwischenliegend" – non-calculable space, Time and Body, my artistic thinking is on Unfinished beauty. So that comments of Radio Curators (Dr. Phil. in Musicology) and others are right, I didn't creat somthing 'ugly'.
-> I found this short spontaneous comment creative. Benjamin's transculturality and anti-authority in the sense of were successful.
On the subject of 'self portrait' in painting and photograph, I'd like to write in my paper, this subject regards after the second world war with 'private is politic' during 1970's in the western countries. (This subject is the field of my study.)
-> 'private recording', why it is an important concept in this sound project?
It is towards the today's mainstream culture 'digital fashion'.
Snap photo 'Selfie' by Smartphone for streaming on internet is current cultural phenomena that is the fashion. Other example Snap photo by Smartphone is intervention of other private area. Today, everyone is a photographer, videographer and model in private. (This subject is rather for the cultural festival. The economy e.g. festival sponsor wants to bring this kind of subject 'new media and its fashion' for the mainstream, due to an important part of the economic demand. Otherwise, it is at the heart of the social system by national politics.)
If AI solves the problem, then I as a user, I need to learn about the explain ‘problem', but how? If one knows own problem well, one (Human) can solve it by himself or herself. Thus in the digital society, everyone is required for academic writing skills.
Another question is about the big data and future human life.
In the 21st century, technology doesn't show us future human life like in the 20th century. The technology is not a vision of our future.
About what we discuss in the 21st century that is not about the ideology, but rather such as the topic of the quality of life. The question is thereby how to discuss on this topic?
Was ist Kunst?
Avant-Garde and Kitsch is the title of a 1939 essay by Clement Greenberg, first published in the Partisan Review, in which he claimed that avant-garde and modernist art was a means to resist the "dumbing down" of culture caused by consumerism.
The term "kitsch" came into use in the 1860s or 1870s in Germany's street markets.
Key ideas
Greenberg believed that the avant-garde arose in order to defend aesthetic standards from the decline of taste perpetuated by the mass-production of consumer society, and saw kitsch and art as opposites.[1]
One of his more controversial claims was that kitsch was equivalent to Academic art: "All kitsch is academic, and conversely, all that is academic is kitsch." He argued this based on the fact that Academic art, such as that in the 19th century, was heavily centered in rules and formulations that were taught and tried to make art into something learnable and easily expressible. He later came to withdraw from his position of equating the two, as it became heavily criticized.
Das Dogma der "Reinen Kunst"
Über Clement Greenbergs „Avant-garde and Kitsch“
There are two aspects of musical consideration.
Other considerations are,
one is in the auditory level includes the auditive level of semiotics,
another one is in the semantic and the semiotic levels of the language.
Thereby the context is historical 'Border' and its human life in between two different social dimensions.
I listen to the sound piece op.1 Vol.1 „N.N-Zwischenliegend" – non-calculable space, Time and Body., and I'm drawing and making the collage (abstract expression) now. This sound is not so bad, quite significant...
For what I'm doing this project that is toward the global popular culture. The sound in the installation for the cognition of seeing and auditive.
A part of an artistic research: Mathemathische Dinge (Y, X, Z)_Practical exploring ->
With today's new media and its technology, we don't know what means 'Manipulation'. I think, in the worst case with them, to lost own identity that is individual 'sense'...
