Making your video smaller on PC / Windows

Because windows has no built-in video compression function, this guide will make use of an application called "Handbrake".

Handbrake is a free, open-source video transcoder.

(note: if you know another app to compress your video, please feel free to use that!).

Download the installer from the Handbrake website, double click the .exe to install.

After installation, open the handbrake application, and click File (Open a single video file), or drag the file into the dropzone from your filebrowser.

Now we are ready to compress the video!

  • select preset: general > fast 720p30 (1)
  • click start encode (the green button) (2)

That's it! Now you will have to wait while your computer compresses the video (make sure you connect to power, if needed). By default, the result is saved in the same folder as the original file.

Now continue to step 3.
