The acousmatism as a category (rather than a genre) deserves additional attention looking from today’s perspective. It is more than just a concept with a historical value. In the eyes of a contemporary music composer it is the degree of interaction between the sound and image. Using the concept of acousmatism as a unit of measure some aesthetically, stylistically, creatively and scientifically attractive and unresearched tendencies can be found in the overlapping areas of sounds that are performed live and reproduced. The objective of this project is to use the concept of acousmatism as a prism for the discovery and identification of the key prerequisites leading to a creatively effective contact of sounds that are performed live and reproduced interconnecting them with interdisciplinary scientific links and supporting by examples of contemporary music.
