Rosinda Casais is an artist, architect, and researcher based in Porto. Working across art, education, and ecological thinking, her practice explores the tension between individual and collective contexts. Before dedicating herself fully to artistic research, she collaborated with several architecture studios — including Atelier Peter Zumthor, Vinagre & Côrte-Real, and FAHR 021.3 — experiences that sharpened her attention to what has been left behind: materials, places, and gestures that bear traces of previous uses and presences. She is currently a PhD fellow in Art Education (FCT2022.09894.BD) at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, where she is developing the project Teias comuns: emergências entre práticas artísticas. Her research unfolds from an implicated position within shared contexts, focusing on the emergent dimensions of artistic practices and on the conditions that allow their continuity.

  • The communication intent in 'matéria disponível’ (‘available matter') (2022) author(s): rosinda casais connected to: i2ADS - Research Institute in Art, Design and Society published in: RUUKKU - Studies in Artistic Research
    This article is based on the personal work 'matéria disponível’ (2020) by Rosinda Casais and proposes to analyse the importance of communication-driven art in its different stages. This work emerged from the objective to explore the outdoor space as a space to communicate, during the period of the first lock-down (social distancing) due to CoVID-19, from march to june 2020. Crossing this period, she and her 5 years old daughter used the debris that remained in the courtyard of the building, where both live, and started communicating through objects with the neighbours. From the intention to interact with the other, this artwork fulfils itself, broadens and questions the communicative nature of the objects and the artistic practice as well. Concepts, along with the capacity of the objects to change the atmosphere of a place and the common/individual memories, were developed during this work towards a sense of communication from/to it and is discussed here.

  • MINA, Cultivating Sharing as Artistic Matter (2025) author(s): rosinda casais; catarina almeida; luana andrade; filipa cruz published in: Research Catalogue
    MINA is a collaborative project that investigates sharing as a material condition of artistic practice. It seeks to create situations where practices can remain active and in relation, fostering exchanges between different forms of knowledge through situated encounters and provisional configurations. Rather than treating sharing as a discrete act, MINA understands it as an ongoing practice that shapes how attention circulates, how relations are formed, and how practices are sustained over time. Dialogues, exchanges, critiques, and other forms of mutual influence operate here not as supplementary moments, but as constitutive forces within artistic processes, even when their effects are subtle, delayed, or difficult to trace. Working without predefined methods, MINA approaches artistic practice as a field of orientations that emerges through games, conversations, and shared situations. Each encounter becomes a way of testing how sharing can redistribute attention, unsettle habitual positions, and open space for collective thinking.
