I worked as a performer and maker with IOU between 1993 and 2001and since then have been a director on the board of the company. I am also an academic in the Drama Division at the University of Huddersfield, UK where I have taught undergraduates and postgraduates performance writing, acting and performing, and critical theory since 2004. My other practice outside of the university includes being a songwriter and performer for post-punk band Kelter. I am a Tavistock and Portman trained Psychodynamic Psychotherapist. Prior to my spell in academia I was a freelance actor, writer and director. My current research interest is in the psychoanalytical understanding and investigation of creative practices.
