Jessica Emsley is an artist-researcher living and walking in and around Kendal, Cumbria. She is a doctoral candidate at Nottingham Trent University, undertaking a PhD by Art Practice.
Jessica's artistic enquiry explores the potential of walking-based art practice as a potential means of interrogating binary understandings of human and 'nature'; a mechanism for countering human exceptionalism and introducing alternative understanding and the possibility of not knowing. Her research focuses specifically on barefoot walking paired with analogue documentation as research methodology and encompasses an autoethnographic project.
