Bruno Tagliasacchi Masia is a versatile and inquisitive drummer, composer, and bandleader, renowned for his distinctive and thoughtful approach to composition and performance. His music seamlessly integrates diverse elements—drones, pulse, dynamic contrasts, atmospheric soundscapes, and the subtle, esoteric colors of impressionistic minimalism—resulting in a unique sonic signature. As a drummer, Bruno is expressive, attentive, and highly refined, performing with understated elegance while maintaining a keen focus on sound, touch, texture, and flow. His artistry combines technical mastery with an acute sensitivity to musical nuance. Bruno has performed at numerous international jazz festivals, including the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Aarhus Jazz Festival, Nuoro Jazz Festival, Ponferrada Jazz Festival, and Piacenza Jazz Festival, among others. He has collaborated with distinguished musicians such as Jorge Rossy, Jesper Bodilsen, Rob Waring, Kathrine Windfeld, Thomas Hass, Thomas Clausen, Dave Liebman, Paolo Angeli and many more. Based in Bergen, Bruno is an active contributor to the Norwegian jazz and contemporary impro scene and plays regularly in several national bands and with artists such Eivind Austad, Magne Thormodsæter, Ole Gjersivk, Sigrid Aftret and many more. His work spans multiple genres, from classic and mainstream jazz to contemporary music, avant-garde, jazz fusion, and advanced rhythmic improvisation. Over the past decade, he has recorded 13 albums, including two live recordings, and leads a variety of projects as a drummer, composer, and artistic director. He also collaborated with cultural organizations such as the Italian Cultural Association Dante Alighieri Copenhagen and served on the music committee at Start! Frederiksberg. IN 2025 he founded the Jara Jazz Festival in Sardinia, his homeland, to bridge the culture which interests him most: Sardinia and Norway. Bruno holds an Advance Post-Graduate diploma in performance, drums, and composition, with a focus on rhythm and improvisation, from the Jyske Musikkonservatorium in Aarhus, Denmark. He also earned a Master’s Degree in music education from the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen and a Bachelor Degree in drums and Jazz Studies at Conservatory of Music of Cagliari, parallel to a supplement diploma at the ESMAE Jazz Academy in Porto, Portugal.
