Daniel Malpica is a Mexican-born author, graphic designer and multmedia artist based in the City of Helsinki since late 2013.
Malpica's literary practice has been complemented by the usage and implementation of design thinking and multimedia arts exploring creative writing, audio visual projections, speech syntesis and translation processes. He has curated, developed and produced more than a dozen of experimental literary events in Europe and Mexico for places such as the contemporary art museum of Helsinki 'Kiasma' (FI), the Helsinki Music Centre (FI), Lettrétage Lit House Berlin (DE), Nordisk Sprogfest (DK), Helsinki Book Fair (FI) and Casa del Lago UNAM (MX), to name some of the most prominent venues.
Malpica is author of the poetry books Paréntesis (RDLPS, 2007), Marduk: Senectus Signum (Bakcheia, 2009) and Ex-Aether (Molinos de, 2012). His wtiting has been partially translated into English, Finnish, Swedish, German and Catalan. Between 20I5-17, Malpica was co-coordinator, producer and designer of Sivuvalo project which received in 2017 Nuori Voima’s literary prize, Helsinki. Between 2011-14 he was founder, editor-in-chief, and designer of [Radiador] Magazine.
