Elina Seye works currently as senior lecturer in musicology at the University of Helsinki in Finland. She has a PhD from the University of Tampere. Her doctoral thesis Performing a Tradition in Music and Dance deals with Senegalese sabar dance events, and her current research considers the sabar tradition in other performance contexts. She has also conducted research on African musicians in Finland.
