Pronounced with a soft 'g' is an exploration into the performative potential of gesso, a material that has previously been used as a support for painting. Traditionally made with rabbit skin and chalk (the body + the earth), Siân acts as an aural architect to release sound from the gesso vessels.

As part of a response to the Bodleian Library's upcoming exhibition 'Sense-sational Books', Siân Hutchings and Calum Perrin have developed a digital catalogue. This alternative catalogue offers a multi-sensory dialogue to some of the works within the exhibition - examining the relationship between the curator's and the works chosen to present the multi-sensory experience of books.
The digital catalogue also presents the proposals submitted by other artists included in the workshops leading up to the exhibition, offering an online format for their proposals to be realised.
The catalogue will also be presented as a physical evolving book that carries another way of formatting the episodes on this digital catalogue along with scores, recipes and choreographic interventions that highlights the performativity of the book format.
