Yannis Kyriakides is a composer and sound artist, who has written close to 200 works that gravitate between concert, theatre and installation art spaces. These works often fuse traditional instruments and digital technologies, exploring themes of language, identity and politics. Prizes have included the Gaudeamus prize, the French Qwartz award, the International Rostrum of Composers prize and recently the Johan Wagenaar oeuvre prize. In 2018, he received a PhD from Leiden University on his portfolio and thesis on concepts of text, voice and narration in multimedia composition, Imagined Voices.
Together with Andy Moor (The Ex), with whom he regularly collaborates with, and Isabelle Vigier he founded and runs the CD label for new electronic music 'Unsounds' . He is a founding member of the electro-acoustic ensemble Maze, and teaches composition and multimedia at the Royal Conservatoire, Den Haag.
