Sami Henrik Haapala is a Finnish actor, dancer and dj. In his performing you can see the freedom of expression of experimental contemporary dance and the exactness and sense of form of classical actor training. In addition to having degrees in both acting and dance he also holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology.
Sami Henrik has worked – among others – with William Petit (FRA), Janne Saarakkala (FIN), Sergey Pronin (RUS), Tassos Stevens (UK), Petri Kekoni (FIN), Vesa-Tapio Valo (FIN), Vihtori Rämä (FIN) and Johanna Tuukkanen (FIN).
Genres he has performed in encompass traditional and experimental theatre, street games, contemporary dance, advertising, radio drama, multimedia, dance and performance clubs, live art, role playing, citywide dramatic events and musicals.
The focus of his artistic research at the Theatre Academy at the University of the Arts Helsinki (FIN) is acting in immersive and participatory performances.
