"The Hunter Doesn't Eat Spinach" - How Did The Bear And The Lion Make An Album Together?

This is an artistic research about a musical collaboration between Jussi Pelkonen and Kifimbo Yahaya in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania in September 2019 - January 2020. The study presents, analyzes and discusses the collaboration process and the resulting record Mwana Mkala from viewpoints of globalization, intercultural relations, hybridity, ethics, musical style, aesthetics, songwriting and studio work. The main finding of the research is that intercultural collaboration, music-making, and the music itself are all forms of communication, and that good and respectable communication is the key to meaningful co-operation.
