About this exposition

"What role can illustration play in a complex and visually overloaded society?" An illustration project in three parts: Applying new illustration development processes to a project conveying the Holocaust in the city of Lodz 1939-1945. PART I STONES Remembrance Through Stones: 15 681 persons from Litzmannstadt ghetto in Łódź, many of them children between the age of 0 to 10 were deported and killed during a short period between 5th and 12th of September 1942. In workshops in the former ghetto the focus lies on the affordances of drawing and exploring Genius Loci (the affordances of a place), participants contribute the the research of the places the children once lived using stones to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust.
