Adolfo Ruiz is a visual communication designer, educator, researcher, and filmmaker. After studying and working as a designer in Spain, England and Canada, Adolfo began a creative collaboration with members of the Tłı̨chǫ community of Behchokǫ̀, NWT in 2012 (visualizing oral history through community-based animation). This collaboration led to PhD research at the University of Alberta—supported by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Doctoral Fellowship. Adolfo has also conducted research in urban intercultural contexts—most recently with the Edmonton Multicultural Coalition. He is currently Assistant Professor of Design at MacEwan University in Edmonton.
