Kaat Vanhaverbeke is a classical-contemporary accordionist, composer and accordion teacher from Belgium, based in The Hague. In 2020 she completed her Bachelor of Music at LUCA School of Arts in Leuven (BE), after which she chose to enrich her musicianship at The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague (NL) – where she successfully obtained her Master’s degree in 2023. Her focus in music-making is personal expression and authentic communication with an audience. She actively wants to involve space and listeners in her musical activities. As a versatile musician, she’s open-minded toward new artistic experiments, always bringing her beloved instrument to the foreground. In 2023 she is working as an artistic researcher in Studio LOOS The Hague. Besides being involved freelance in many different projects, she’s currently engaged in various ensembles, among her duo “Vloed” with violinist Marjolein Spruit and the Belgian SP!TSBERGEN ensemble. With the Spaceship Ensemble, she completed an artistic residency at Gaudeamus in September 2022. Kaat has worked with theatre groups such as Lichtbende (NL), Kunstgreep (NL) and Max Last (BE).
