Renee Carmichael is a writer, artist, researcher and coder whose work focuses on a link between dance and code as a way of understanding technological power flows. She is currently a PhD student working on dance and code through theories of the plague at Universidad Nacional de Tres Febrero in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is founder of the project Flee Immediately!, which explores creative ways of fleeing research. Her works change format, from code poetry to performance, and recent topics have included, a Laban Movement Analysis of eBay, the Dancing Plague of 1518 and cybernetics, the web’s relationship to print and singing IBM anthems. She has a Masters degree in Interactive Media: Critical Theory and Practice from Goldsmiths College in London.
