The Artistic Research that I have been engaged in for the past four years would not have been possible without the inspiring encounters with many colleagues, friends and family, both in Norway and the Netherlands. I would especially like to thank my mother Wil Ham, whom I have not been able to visit for an extended duration during the research due to travel restrictions. I would like to acknowledge the multifaceted, thought provoking support from both of my supervisors, Dániel Péter Biró and Kristina Andersen. Your deep engagement with my research has opened up new perspectives and insights that would have otherwise eluded me. I would like to thank the faculty of Art, Music, and Design (KMD) and the Department of Music specifically for supporting a vibrant and critical Artistic Research environment. Thank you Randi Rolvsjord, Frode Thorsen, and Jostein Gundersen for all of the effort in nurturing this research community. I am grateful for the interaction with my direct colleagues Kjetil Møster, Craig Wells, Thorolf Tuestad, Stephan Meidell, and Sergej Tchirkov. There have been countless opportunities to discuss, play, read, talk, and share our thoughts and inspirations. The resulting reading group meetups, jam sessions, and concerts will forever stay with me. Throughout my research there have been many opportunities to collaborate and share the stage with incredible artists and makers. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Alwynne Pritchard, Knut Olai Mjøs Helle, Roald van Dillewijn, and Kjetil Møster for playing, making, and thinking with me. Your contributions to my research and practice continue to be invaluable. Over the past years I have had the privilege of connecting to a wider network of artists and thinkers that have shared their thoughts through conversation and discussion: Omar Emanuel Johnsen, Derek Holzer, Thor Magnussen, Mariska de Groot (and all the others at iii), Chris Kiefer (and the wider Feedback Musicianship Network), Joel Ryan (and all the others at STEIM), Giacomo Lepri, Lia Mice (and all the others involved in the Absurd Music Hackathon), Maria Sele, Anders Schinkel, Paal Rasmussen, and Scott McLaughlin. Thank you Stefan Alt (Ant-Zen) and Julie Lillelien Porter (Lydgalleriet) for supporting my music and writing through the release of my record and the publishing of the Blue Rinse Papers.

But most importantly, I would like to thank my wife Henriette Ring and my family, for always being there for me. In the four years that I have been working on this research, life has presented us with formidable challenges, but we have never had to face them alone.
