This program slot will deal with the concept of curating in the realm of performing arts and advocacy, reaching beyond the “usual” understanding of the term. Gathering four speakers with extensive practical experience in different cultural fields, the first part of the round table will be dedicated to their case study presentations through which they will offer their perspectives on the hows and whys of contemporary curating, while the second part will be focused on a four-way conversation about the social aspects of curating, including its social inspirations and impacts. The last part of the session will be open for a Q&A.

BIO DAVOR MIŠKOVIĆ: Davor Mišković is the director of the Rijeka-based cultural association Drugo more, which connects its dynamic artistic programme with discourses in science and cultural theory, in the belief that art is important as a cognitive tool. With an MA in sociology, he also works as a researcher of the cultural sector, active in the creation of cultural policies and the management of cultural institutions and networks (in 2009–2016, he was the president of the national cultural network Clubture and coordinated the cultural strategy development in the region of Istria and in the cities Pula, Labin and Pazin). He has contributed more than 50 articles to cultural magazines and publications and published the book Research in Culture (2013). He has worked for the Croatian Ministry of Culture and has been a part-time associate in cultural associations, market research agencies, and publications. BIO MIRANDA VELJAČIĆ: Miranda Veljačić has co-founded Platforma 9,81 in 1998, together with Dinko Peračić and Marko Sančanin, and acts as its president since 2013. Since 2000 she has organized and participated in a large number of activist, research, architectural, urbanistic and artistic projects, seminars, workshops, lectures and conferences. From 2006 to 2010 she was member of the presidency of the Split Society of Architects, member of the program committee for urban and youth culture of the Multimedia Cultural Centre Split and editor-in-chief of the Split Society of Architects web portal. In 2007 and 2008 she was editor of Oris magazine for architecture and culture of living. She is member of the Board of the Clubture Network since 2011.Together with Dinko Peračić, Emina Višnić and Slaven Tolj she has presented Croatia on the 15th Venice Biennial of Architecture, with the project “we need it-we do it” which has won the Big Prize at the 53rd Zagreb Salon of architecture.
