NOTES ON PERFORMANCE ART, THE BODY AND THE POLITICAL
(2017)

When I use the term ‘political’ related to performance art, I intend to set forth a space of possible, civil negotiation for and among artists and audience to analyse and further debate on how to overcome and transform schemes, rules, conventions and barriers, socially and culturally.
Curatorial text published in the post event catalogue of the second edition of the Live art exhibition project Venice International Performance Art Week "Ritual Body-Political Body" (2014) conceived and curated by VestAndPage.

Into the margin/In the marrow
This is a woodcut printmaking project based on the book as body, form and platform. It is about the formal aesthetic layout of a book, but also about references to the bodily. In norwegian you have the expression "to feel something into the marrow" leads to reflections on identity and feelings. Also the word marrow is the same as margin. The book's margin offers space for the eye and space for your own notes. It becomes a way to communicate with the author's voice. The types, i.e. the letters in the prints, are found objects. Random bits that others have made. The woodcuts are shown both as framed pictures on the wall, and bound as pages in five different books.

S/N 267 is the result of a collective search begun within the Internet Archive, an ever-evolving digital space that provides access to various types of resources, enabling the preservation and dissemination of knowledge. This Internet library archives not only digital content and snapshots of Web pages, but also images, audio, video, and software. The project investigates the diversity of representations that emerge from online searches, exploring how the individual conceives of the body through the selection and uploading of content into the digital world. Using the word “body” as the main filter for image selection, S/N 267 takes the form of a sticker album where each image tells a unique, sometimes highly personal story and reflects the richness and variety of content uploaded by users.

The project At the Boundaries of the Body is based on monitoring changes in the health of the skin. The starting point of this observation is stress situations that threaten the boundaries of our organism both externally and internally. The concept of these dynamic changes is structurally divided into several levels, thereby extending its focus toward more general questions about the boundaries of the body.
The artistic language draws primarily from metaphorical expressions, which can help uncover new relationships within this issue. The symbolic grasp of these phenomena aims to liberate the affected individual from a sense of resignation or the magical ambiguity that often accompanies these processes.
The question of an individual's boundaries must be considered simultaneously on physical, psychological, and social levels, from the perspectives of medicine, philosophy, and law etc.
