Branka Zgonjanin (1980, Belgrade) is a choreographer, performer and teacher currently based in Amsterdam. In her most recent work the disciplines of visual and performing arts are interwoven and their meeting points are being developed to form new standpoints, usually by using juxtaposition and paradox. Branka's current interests move between the research of the materiality of the body and the different scales of the particular bodies. Further on, she works with different perceptive phenomena (sensations), performative immediacy and non-anthropocentric awareness.

Branka holds an MA degree in choreography (Amsterdam Master of Choreography 2011) and MA in anthropology (Philosophy Faculty, Belgrade University 2005).

    ONE DOUBLE BODY/Conversations with The Fish is based on the research of the inner forces within one's body. These forces are perceived as a causality. Each person/performer has many different bodies, and those bodies are interrelated and influence each other all the time. Their mutual influence is most of the time mechanic. In this work I underline those aspects of the bodies and try to make them visible on the stage. Thematically, ONE DOUBLE BODY is based on the real-time rite de passage experience of a performer/woman: pregnancy, labour and becoming a mother.
