Janna Beck is an artist, designer, and researcher at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, where she teaches Interactive Arts within Graphic Design. She investigates how digital technologies reshape artistic collaboration, authorship, and participation. As the founder of Maxlab, a research group focused on the role of technology in the arts, she develops international projects that connect digital and physical making processes. Her practice spans experiential installations, performative drawing sessions, and artistic research that challenges conventional studio models. Beck approaches technology as a co-creator and values process, improvisation, and shared authorship over polish. Her projects balance between infrastructure and improvisation, with a touch of anarchy and a healthy distrust of over-optimized systems.
