At the Affective Art Practice Studio, we believe that art can be a powerful tool for change. Our programme emphasises the role of emotion and affect in exploring reality and shaping the human experience. We extend traditional approaches by attributing emotions and affects not only to people, but also to objects and the environment, discovering how objects can influence our emotions and perceptions of the world.
We work with a variety of methods - tactile, processual and participatory activities that allow us to share experiences and build knowledge resources together. We experiment with stepping out of our comfort zone and teach cause-and-effect thinking, which helps to plan and anticipate the consequences of actions.
De_koex
De_koex, or deconstructed code, is a concept I use to create truly safe spaces. My idea is to break down the limitations of rigid rules and introduce rules that are flexible, inclusive and adaptable to the changing needs of participants. Safe spaces are places where everyone* can express themselves freely without fear of discrimination or violence. A key element in creating such spaces is understanding and implementing principles that promote acceptance, equality and respect for diversity....
Preparation for emotional triggers
Beginning your studies at the Academy of Art is a unique journey where everyone* brings their own experiences. The Programme of Affective Artistic Practices (PAPA) Studio supports intellectual and emotional development by offering subjects that can evoke a variety of emotions - from joy to anger. This is natural in the arts. We create a safe space for learning, the co-creation of which requires everyone's involvement. We encourage openness, understanding and safe self-expression. If you need support, we're here for you, and you can also access psychological support at the university.
