Hi, Welcome to H.S.H. Prince Frei von Fräähsen zu Lorenzburg!

I am a choreographer, performance artist, conceptual artist, writer and researcher currently based in Gothenburg Sweden. I have a BA (Hons) from Trinity Laban conservatoire of Music and Dance (London) and a MA Contemporary Performative Arts from Gothenburg Academy of music and drama.

I am interested in the performative aspect of art and research, that is, what they do in the world. I think that artistic practices and artistic reserach become means, not merely of representing or mirroring oneself and the world, but of creating oneself and one’s world.

Micronationalism: The Principality of Lorenzburg

  • Article: The micronation as "Narrative Artifact" (29/04/2016)
Publication: Paper, artist(s)/author(s): Freï von Fräähsen zu Lorenzburg
Here is a short reflection on an ongoing large-scale transmedia art project in the city of Karlstad in Sweden. The project plays out as a conceptual narrative artifact in the form of the fairytale "micronation"* of Lorenzburg. in the project, which is running since December 2014, Freï von Fräähsen zu Lorenzburg investigates methods for large-scale community art and the relationship of the artist-as-prince to the "subjects". *micronation - A micronation, sometimes referred to as a model country or new country project, is an entity that claims to be an independent nation or state but is not recognized by world governments or major international organizations.[1]

Publication: Book, Glorifons Publishing, artist(s)/author(s): Freï von Fräähsen zu Lorenzburg
This book on etiquette and manners is a contemporary version of the ancient literary genre known as specula principum – “Mirrors for Princes”, that is, books for, by or about rulers and their vocation. However, you don’t have to have a vast kingdom of your own to benefit from the tips, tricks and age-old wisdom within these pages. Today, acting like a prince is a matter of taking control of your own life, and of going into any social situation with grace and confidence. This book is filled with practical advice on etiquette, philosophical reflections on manners and timeless guidance on how to live an ethical life.
