Helen Scarlett O'Neill is a site-responsive and immersive arts specialist utilising game theory and participatory practice to explore space. Helen most recently produced 16 mobile augmented reality pieces at locations across the UK for Story Futures Academy in collaboration with the British Film Institute, winning the Museums + Heritage award for Best Use Of Digital. Her background is as an immersive performance designer, leading the design of projects for Secret Cinema, London Contemporary Orchestra and the National Trust. Her company, O’Neill/Ross specialises in the production of site-sensitive arts experiences. Helen co-curated London InTRANSIT festival of art in unexpected spaces and the Portobello Pavilion public space pop-up. She lectures Contemporary Art Practice part time at Gray's School of Art with a focus on digital/AV practice and is the recipient of research funding from AHRC to investigate new forms of storytelling as a member of the Story Arcs Project, collaborating with Royal Holloway and Bath Spa Universities.

Case study - AI Week at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. Staff share their experience of running RGU’s first AI week, which was held in October 2024 at Gray’s School of Art in collaboration with School of Computing. This online case study provides insights from workshops and discussions covering Gen AI, its ethics, its implications as/within art, and its role within learning/production processes.

With this new collective online publication, MA PPS curates past and current alumni artistic research processes and practices that encapsulate references and positions of public space discourse. The publication serves as documentation of artists who developed (part of) their research together with the programme, and that shares their valuable contribution to the field of Performing Public Space.
