Dr. Samuel Penderbayne is a composer and artistic researcher based in Hamburg, Germany. He lectures on artistic research at the University of Music and Theatre, Hamburg, where he was awarded a Doctor Scientiae Musicae with 1,0 summa cum laude in 2018 with subseqeunt publication of his thesis - 

Cross-genre composition: encoding characters in the chamber opera I.th.Ak.A. with semiotic elements derived from commercial music genres - by Wolke Verlag. He is a member of the DfG Research Network "Artistic Music Research".

As a composer he has specialised in opera, working with the Hamburg State Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opera Zürich, Musiktheater-Aalto, the Komische Oper Berlin and Opera Düsseldorf amongst others.
