Marianne Baudouin Lie is a cellist, chamber musician, researcher, and assistant professor at NTNU Department of Music, where she teaches cello, ensemble, entrepreneurship for musicians a.o. She was awarded a three year State artists scholarship from 2020. Marianne finished her PhD in November 2018 with the project Making Sense, the performer´s perspective: www.makingsense.no. She is active in the Alpaca Ensemble, SiTron and Trondheim Soloists, and is a driving force in contemporary music and likes to work across genres. www.cello.no
Her education, which also includes baroque cello, composition and a master's degree in chamber music, has been awarded at the Royal College of Music in London, the Gothenburg Academy of Music, the Barratt-Dues Music Institute and the NTNU Music Conservatory.
Her discography includes several releases with contemporary music and crossover projects with Alpaca Ensemble, Trondheim Sinfonietta, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Trondheim Soloists. "So strange…! (2008) ”, with Trondheim Sinfonietta and music by Trygve Brøske won the Spellemann award for best children's album 2008! and "Systema Naturae (2010)" with chamber music by Lene Grenager was nominated in the category "best contemporary music CD" and "contemporary composer". Her solo record Khipukamayuk was nominated in the category “composer” in 2016, as well as the cello concerto Marmæle by Jon Øivind Ness with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra in 2024.
MARIANNE BAUDOUIN LIE er utøvende cellist og kammermusiker, med fordypning innen samtidsmusikk. Lie er førsteamanuensis ved NTNU Institutt for musikk, hvor hun disputerte i 2018 med sin PhD Making Sense, og nå underviser i cello, kammermusikk, øvingsmetodikk og musikkformidling. Hennes diskografi inneholder en stor mengde utgivelser samtidsmusikk, klassisk og crossover prosjekter, med Alpaca Ensemble, Trondheimsolistene, Trondheim Jazzorkester og SiTron, samt tre soloutgivelser. Fra 2020-23 mottok hun ett tre-årig arbeidsstipend fra Statens Kunstnerstipend for å arbeide med samtidsmusikk og improvisasjon.
Lie var nominert til Spellemannsprisen 2022 i klassen samtidsmusikk med utgivelsen «Mørkagånga/Marmæle» med Trondheim Symfoniorkester. Hun er aktiv i Alpaca Ensemble, SiTron, Trondheimsolistene og Trondheim Jazzorkester. Sammen med Alpaca Ensemble fikk hun prisen “Årets Utøver 2020” av Norsk Komponistforening, og deres to utgivelser i 2021 ble begge Spellemannsnominert.
