Yuya Takeda is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Language and Literacy Education at University of British Columbia.

In his dissertation, Yuya studies conspiracy theories through philosophical and discourse analytic approaches and speculates on how critical media literacy education can respond to them. He posits that rationalistic debunking is not an effective way to teach conspiracy theories. Instead, he takes existentialist and critical pragmatist stances and locates conspiracy theories in relation to cults and counter-culture movements.

His work appears on journals such as Critical Education, Learning, Technology and Media, and others. Yuya is also an experimental street photographer. Please visit yuyapecotakeda.com for more information about his work.
